Volunteer of the Year 2025

Sue Shipon
Sue Shipon is a wife of 43 years to her wonderful husband, Murray, and the mother of two beautiful daughters, Mindy and Jennifer. For 35 years, Sue worked as a retail pharmacist at Cropwell Pharmacy in Marlton, NJ. Sue, now semi-retired, continues to work 32 hours a month as a certified geriatric pharmacist, visiting nursing homes and assisted living facilities to review medication regimens of residents. Sue also is a member of the American Society of Consultant Pharmacists. Sue and Murray both joined JFCS in 2021 and continue to share their passion as dedicated volunteers. Sue first began volunteering with JFCS as a Patient Partner, which she self-described as a “perfect fit.” To date, Sue still shares a close relationship with her very first Patient Partner client, with whom she still visits weekly and has become like family.
Over the last four years, Sue has grown with JFCS, becoming actively involved with multiple JFCS programs, including Friendly Visitors, Personal Shopper, Kosher Meal Packing and Deliveries, Holiday Meal Deliveries, Soups & Sweets, Café Connection, the Volunteer Department Strategic Planning Committee, and most recently signing up to do Medical Rides for seniors and Take the Wheel rides for Veterans. It is no surprise that at the 2025 Annual Volunteer Appreciation Breakfast, Sue was recognized as the female volunteer involved with the most programs.
Sue shines as a natural volunteer leader. She masterfully organizes the weekly kosher meal packs and in June 2025, she led an art program for Café Connection. Sue also volunteers for the Jewish Federation making monthly Challah deliveries and serves as the Treasurer of the Camden County Herzl Chapter of Hadassah. In her other free time, Sue plays the piano and loves to quilt.
Sue finds that volunteering with JFCS adds great meaning to her life and enjoys not only the relationships and connections she has built with clients, but also the social outlet and camaraderie she has with other volunteers. JFCS is so lucky to have an extraordinary volunteer like Sue – she truly does it all!

Stephanie Zinn
Originally from NY, Stephanie moved to Cherry Hill in 2009 with her husband, Andy, and their two children (Cody, 19, and Abigail,17). Stephanie taught high school Biology in two NYC private schools. Upon relocating here, she found joy in working for JCC Camps at Medford, first as a science specialist and then as Assistant Director of Camp Hilltop. One of her proudest community contributions was helping shape the unification of Congregation M’kor Shalom and Temple Emanuel to become Congregation Kol Ami. Stephanie currently serves as one of Kol Ami’s Vice Presidents. She joined JFCS as a vetted volunteer in April of 2019 and has been an active Patient Partner advocate for several clients. She also helps with holiday meal deliveries and special events. When not volunteering, she tutors, plays pickleball, reads novels for her book club, makes photo montages of her latest family vacation, enjoys the NY Times games & puzzles, tweaks her Fantasy Football lineup, or plays Mah Jongg with her mom and mother-in-law. Stephanie is truly grateful for her whole family’s presence and support; it is from them that she draws her inspiration.

Howard Jonas
Howard began volunteering with JFCS in 2017. After more than 30 years in the institutional investment management field, primarily with BlackRock as a Managing Director, one of the world’s preeminent asset management firms, his life took a different turn.
