Description

Disability Services Department: The goal of this program is to develop programs and services in support of individuals with disabilities and their families, so that they can lead more independent and fulfilled lives as citizens of our community. Volunteers can help in help in several ways.

  • Supports to Achieve Independent Living (SAIL): High school and college students (18+ only, no minors may participate) can provide peer interactions for young adults with special needs at social events, including cultural events, informal get-togethers, life-long learning classes, community service projects and participation in Special Olympics.
  • Social Outings and Recreation (SOAR) Facilitators: High school and college students (all ages) can interact on weekends with those individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities, who need greater oversight than those in the SAIL program.
